OpenSUSE: since 10.1 a new command line tool for package management called 'rug'. It is slow and first release was full of bugs. Not tryed yet.
Debian GNU/Linux: the use of aptitude is recommended over apt-get.
NetBSD: the only tool which handles binary updates, pkgtools/pkg_select, needs a local copy of a pkgsrc bulk build . Otherwise you need to build yourself your updates with the pkgsrc tarball.
